The morning was freezing and the last thing I felt like doing was traipsing round town recording what cafes in Glasgow were like! So...It started with a trip in the subway to Kelvinbridge where we had decided to go to a little cafe I had never heard that has the weirdest name, Tchai-ovna. However it was not open until 11am so we disappeared and went to find another cafe where we could get a hot roll to heat us up, except the vegetarians in the group who were happy with a toastie or cake.
After a while we finally ended up in Morton's on Byres road. It was a modern, busy wee place where everyone was chatty and and you could watch the world go by. Then we were blinded by light and the seats were getting uncomfortable so we decided to head back to Tchai-ovna after my tea and bacon roll.
Tchai-ovna is a small, secluded cafe and it is was very cosy and homely. It smelt of herbal tea and was lovely and warm, you can sit down and relax as it has a peaceful, comforting atmosphere about it and we all had a great chance to catch up and have a girly chat. I loved the look of the place as it was very individual and had elements of African, Asian and Indian culture, it was quite odd but it all seemed to work. Unfortunately I didn't really like anything from the menu as it was very fancy and didn't really know what anything was - I just wanted plain tea! But the biscuits were fantastic and it was difficult to leave as we all felt at peace and comfortable, we could have stayed for hours chatting away.
